Workshop sessions will cover a range of topics in physical AI ⎯ robots or systems that apply AI to autonomously sense, interact with and adapt to their environment using complex computational, sensory and motor abilities to perform challenging real-world tasks. The sessions will include:

● Scientific exploration and discovery in space powered by AI.

● Autonomous maintenance and exploration in unstructured, unknown environments enabled by robots.

● Autonomous control and decision-making in deep space by human crews supported by AI.

● Autonomous management of health of spacecraft and astronaut supported by AI.

● How do we know AI is doing the right thing?

● Featured presentations/posters/demos from startups, vendors and large contractors.

● Perspectives and priorities from government and private funders.

● Next steps and concrete collaborative projects.

“AI has the potential to revolutionize the space industry by enhancing the design, operation and maintenance of spacecraft, space stations and rovers on the Moon and Mars. It can also advance space exploration, improve astronaut health and create innovative applications in agriculture and space medicine,” said Sanjoy Paul, executive director of the Rice Nexus, director of the AI Houston Institute and lecturer in computer science at Rice.
