Rice’s student-led Mariachi Luna Llena performed the national anthem at the Sept. 23 Houston Astros baseball game, adding to the list of prominent events where the group has played. Mariachi Luna Llena has appeared at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the State of Harris County Address, former Mayor Annise Parker’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, Houston Rockets games, the Reliant Lights Mayor’s Holiday Spectacular, the CONCACAF 2023 Gold Cup and as an opening act before the Grammy Award-winning rock band Los Lobos at Miller Outdoor Theater.
