Rice symposium explores ethics in higher education

Ethics symposium

The Office of Ethics, Compliance and Enterprise Risk hosted its first Ethics and Compliance Symposium at Farnsworth Pavilion in the Rice Memorial Center on April 25.

Provost Amy Dittmar welcomed more than 100 guests, who were treated to a panel of speakers including:

  • Mikki Hebl, the Martha and Henry Malcolm Lovett Chair of Psychology.
  • Luay Nakhleh, the William and Stephanie Sick Dean of the George R. Brown School of Engineering.
  • Doug Natelson, professor of physics and astronomy.
  • Jeffrey Kripal, the J. Newton Rayzor Chair in Philosophy and Religious Thought and associate dean of the faculty and graduate studies in the School of Humanities.
  • Bridget Gorman, dean of undergraduates and professor of sociology.
  • Omar Syed, vice president and general counsel.
