Rice homecoming brings Owls together for weekend of celebrations

The campus will welcome alumni, students, faculty, staff and families for Rice Alumni Weekend Nov. 3-4. Part homecoming, part class reunion and part family weekend, the 48 hours promise something for everyone

To kick things off, listen to biologist and professor Scott Solomon as he discusses “From Pacific Islands to Mars: How Exploring the South Pacific Can Inform Our Future in Space” at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 3 in the Anderson-Clarke Center’s Hudspeth Auditorium. Immediately afterwards, hear from four Rice faculty members as they discuss their work along with undergraduate students in research endeavors and facilitating successful collaborations in TEDx-style talks.

Later that day at 2 p.m., President Reginald DesRoches will join Association of Rice Alumni President Tania Min ’90, ’92 for a town hall, also in Hudspeth Auditorium. Additionally, the 2023 Builders Award recipients will be recognized at this event.

Nov. 4, activities begin with the Community Market from 8:30 to 11 a.m. in the Greenbriar parking lot. See participating businesses here.

The Tailgate and Family Fest will follow from 4 to 6 p.m. at Rice Stadium, with pregame activities for the whole family before the Owls football team takes on the Southern Methodist University Mustangs at 6:30 p.m.
