The Rice baseball team celebrated Vamos Búhos day April 16 at Reckling Park before and during the Owls’ matchup with the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
The first pitch was thrown out by Houston City Councilman Robert Gallegos, alumna Sofia Adrogué and alumna Fernanda Pierre. There was also a recognition of Yvonne Romero da Silva, Rice's vice president for enrollment.
Student groups were recognized during the game, and Rice's Mariachi Luna Llena performed the national anthem. The baseball team wore special jerseys with “Los Búhos” on the front.
