Badie Khaleghian, a Shepherd School doctoral candidate in music composition, is this year’s recipient of the Presser Foundation's Presser Graduate Music Award. Badie's "The Sounds of Freedom" project will commission eight new compositions — four by Iranian composers in the United States and four by composers in Iran — that will premiere at an Asia Society Texas event next January. The Presser Foundation has supported Rice Shepherd School students since 1999.
