A Jack Riedel home run was the deciding factor in Rice’s 3-2 victory over No. 24-ranked Texas Tech University in the opening game of the Shriners Children's College Classic March 3 at Minute Maid Park.
Prior to the Owls’ win, Texas Tech boasted a 10-game winning streak to start the season.
Rice dropped the next two games in the Shriners Classic, to Texas A&M University and Texas Christian University. The Owls (4-7) will next face the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley at Reckling Park on March 7 at 6:30 p.m.
