Ngozi Ukazu, graphic novel author and illustrator, recently visited David Messmer’s class African American Comics and Graphic Novels as a guest lecturer. Ukazu’s works include the award-winning series “Check Please!,” which was a New York Times best-seller. The class led by Messmer, director of the First-Year Writing Intensive Seminars and associate teaching professor, examines the struggle for black representation in comics and graphic novels.
