Learning Black history in Houston’s Fourth Ward

As part of Rice’s Black History Month programming sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs, students and members of the Rice community visited the Rutherford B.H. Yates Museum in Freedmen’s Town Feb. 17. Located in Houston’s Fourth Ward, Freedmen’s Town was one of the first communities founded by freed slaves following the Civil War.
