'Soundwaves' brings experimental art and music to the Moody

The rhythmic beats of 38 snares suspended upside-down from the ceiling of the Central Gallery drum visitors into the newest exhibition at Rice’s Moody Center for the Arts. “ Soundwaves: Experimental Strategies in Art + Music” runs through May 14.

“This is a special exhibition because it’s organized on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Moody Center for the Arts and the 10th anniversary of the James Turrell ‘Twilight Epiphany’ Skyspace,” said Alison Weaver, the Suzanne Deal Booth executive director of the Moody.

“The goal of the exhibition is to celebrate the creative intersection between art and music, so we’ve brought together a group show of artists who are deeply engaged with sounds and who experiment in exciting ways across the intersection of the aural and the visual.”
