Rice’s Shepherd School of Music hosted its annual Family Concert Feb. 26. The event, sponsored by The Shepherd Society, included a performance of Camille Saint-Saëns’ “The Carnival of the Animals" that integrated music, dance and audience participation. The concert was performed by the Shepherd School Chamber Players and conceived, written, staged and narrated by Rachel Buchman, Shepherd School lecturer and head of the young children’s division of the school’s Michael P. Hammond Preparatory Program. The musicians were coached by Michael Webster, professor of orchestral and chamber repertoire, and Brian Connelly, professor of piano.
