Rice EMS to hold blood drive Nov. 7

blood donation

The American Red Cross estimates that every two seconds someone in the United States is in need of blood and/or platelets for medical procedures, and that approximately 29,000 units of red blood cells are needed every day — demonstrating why donations are vital.

Rice University Emergency Medical Services (REMS) will help the university community answer the call by hosting a blood drive on campus Nov. 7 from 2-8 p.m. To participate, sign up online for any of the available 15-minute time slots.

The drive, held in conjunction with Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center, will take place at Provisional Campus Facility Tent 1, located between the South Servery and Kraft Hall.
