Rep. Michael McCaul to discuss US policy on Ukraine at the Baker Institute

The Baker Institute for Public Policy

HOUSTON – (April 13, 2022) – Rep. Michael McCaul, ranking member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, will discuss United States policy regarding the war in Ukraine at an April 14 event hosted by Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy.

Former secretary of state and Baker Institute honorary chair James Baker III will deliver welcome remarks. Ambassador Edward Djerejian, director of the Baker Institute, will moderate a question-and-answer session following McCaul’s remarks.

The discussion will focus on how to address Russian aggression in Ukraine and how the conflict will shape future U.S. foreign policy in Europe and around the world.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has led to the largest ground war in Europe since World War II, creating a major humanitarian crisis in the region. The conflict represents a global policy challenge for the U.S. and its European partners, who have provided substantial military assistance to Ukraine and imposed unprecedented economic sanctions on Russia, including on Russian President Vladimir Putin himself.
