The Rice community is invited to join RUPD officers in an immersive nine-week experience aimed at strengthening and improving community relations.

“It’s a great chance for the public to take a look at the police department from the inside out,” said Susann Glenn, director of communications for administration.

The program will examine the history of policing, crime prevention, the criminal justice system, traffic law and police technology. Participants will be trained in conducting traffic stops and building searches, criminal investigations, crime scene processing and dignitary protection operations.

Classes will be held every Wednesday from Sept. 8 through Nov. 10. The class is free but is limited to 15 participants, who must be at least 18 years old.
