Rice Shepherd School student Emily Treigle and alum Duke Kim '18 were named grand finals winners of the 2021 Metropolitan Opera Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition. The annual contest is designed to discover promising young opera singers and assist in the development of their careers. Each winner receives a $20,000 cash prize and the prestige and exposure that come with winning a competition that launched the careers of many of opera's biggest stars.
