The 10-25, 25-16, 25-23, 14-25, 15-13 triumph was the second in a row for the Owls (14-4) against the Longhorns (20-1). Texas had won 36 consecutive matchups between the programs before Rice's five-set victory Sept. 18, 2019, at Tudor Fieldhouse.
Senior outside hitter Nicole Lennon led the Owls with 18 kills and 14 digs. Junior middle blocker Anota Adekunle added 12 kills.
Rice (14-4) next plays in the Conference USA Tournament April 1-3 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, in search of an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The top-seeded Owls, who went 12-0 in league play during the regular season, face Middle Tennessee State University (5-10, 4-8) in the first round.
