Rice University's Shell-backed hub announces latest research grants

A second grant was awarded to Geoffrey Wehmeyer, assistant professor of mechanical engineering; Junichiro Kono, the Karl F. Hasselmann Professor in Engineering and a professor of electrical and computer engineering, of physics and astronomy, and of materials science and nanoengineering; and Matthew Foster, associate professor of physics and astronomy, to study the possibility of replacing metal power transmission cables with carbon nanotube fibers.
