Rice's Shepherd School of Music held a virtual masterclass April 11 with Shepherd School voice students and artist Jamie Barton, mezzo-soprano, as part of the 2020-2021 Aleko Endowed Masterclass Artist Series. Each year, the series brings leading artists and teachers to campus to work with students.

Joining via zoom from Atlanta, Barton worked with students Caitlin Aloia, soprano; Madeleine Lyon, mezzo-soprano; Cecelia McKinley, contralto; Hannah Shea, mezzo-soprano; and Luke Sutliff, baritone. They were accompanied by Tom Jaber, professor of music and director of choral ensembles, as they sang onstage in Duncan Recital Hall.
