Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, ex-Lockheed Martin CEO and chairman Norman Augustine and Alphabet Inc. board chairman John Hennessy will discuss the role of artificial intelligence and other technologies play in the United States’ prosperity during a free webinar Thursday.

Hosted by Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy, the webinar is part of the Civic Scientist Lecture series, which is sponsored by the Baker Institute’s Science and Technology Policy Program. The panelists will address the power and limits of artificial intelligence technologies and their impact on our economy, security and welfare.

Schmidt is the co-founder of Schmidt Futures and the chair of the National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence. Hennessy is a former president of Stanford University and the founder and director of its Knight-Hennessy Scholars Program.
