Rice’s Betty and Jacob Friedman Holistic Garden has new residents: a flock of chickens.
The feathery tenants provide eggs and keep invasive pests and insects in check.
The garden, located south of the Rice Media Center at the corner of College Way and University Boulevard, is home to classes for Rice undergraduate students and offers volunteer opportunities for the entire Rice community. It also supports Rice Housing & Dining, as the produce grown on site is used in serveries across campus.
