The spring course guide for Rice’s Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies features dynamic offerings spanning the arts, humanities, sciences, social sciences, technology and more — and all are open to the Houston community.
Nearly 40 day and evening courses, most of which have no prerequisites, cover a wide range of topics and interests. They include Beethoven 250; Back to the Moon: Space Exploration in the 21st Century; Everyday Mindfulness; and Retirement, Investing, Income Tax and Estate Planning.
“At its core, the Glasscock School exists to provide the high-quality educational opportunities Rice is known for to the nontraditional student,” said Robert Bruce, dean of the Glasscock School. “This is exemplified in our Community Learning and Engagement courses, which bring thousands of people to our campus each year for the sheer joy of learning.”
Most of the spring courses start in February or March and are primarily held in the school’s state-of-the-art Anderson-Clarke Center. Select courses are discounted up to 50% for Rice students, faculty and staff. Benefits-eligible faculty and staff may also apply for tuition reimbursement for job-related courses. Rice alumni receive a 10% discount on many Community Learning and Engagement courses.
