Energy Tech Venture Day still on for May 7

HOUSTON – (April 30, 2020) – The Rice Alliance Energy Tech Venture Day is going virtual this year, allowing participants to connect with investors and energy companies while social distancing.

The May 7 event is hosted by the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship, which has conducted more than 200 startup events over the last 20 years, with participating companies going on to raise over $9.3 billion in funding.

About 40 energy technology ventures providing innovative solutions to address challenges facing the energy industry will present their 2 ½-minute business pitches. Areas of focus include decarbonization, data analytics, enhanced oil recovery, advanced materials and more.

Investors, advisers and industry experts selected the participants, which hail from 11 states and five countries. Most have already secured initial funding, with over $110 million raised in total. While some of these companies are pitching to secure additional funding, others have proven technology and field trial experience and are generating revenue.
