Kaden Hazzard, an assistant professor of physics and astronomy, is leading the effort by open-access journal PLOS One to introduce Topic Pages for physics in association with Wikipedia. The program will facilitate the publication of articles about peer-reviewed physics discoveries on both the wiki-like Topic Page and on Wikipedia itself. The idea is to encourage physicists to contribute to the public discourse and understanding of complicated physics and receive due credit for their work, according to Hazzard, who outlined the program in a PLOS One blog post. Hazzard, who specializes in quantum physics and atomic interactions at ultracold temperatures, is academic editor of PLOS One.
