O’Malley’s research focuses on the design, modeling and control of electromechanical devices and systems. She is director of the Mechatronics and Haptic Interfaces Lab and a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

O’Malley and her fellow nominees — Maria Elena Botazzi of Baylor College of Medicine, Sharon Dent of the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and Vicki Hollub of Occidental Petroleum Corporation — join an elite roster of women that includes astronauts, world-renowned medical researchers, educators and inventors. They will receive their awards Jan. 18, 2019, during the 10th annual WISE Luncheon at River Oaks Country Club.

WISE is sponsored by BioHouston, a nonprofit organization dedicated to making the Houston region a world-class competitor in the life sciences industry. By connecting women of all ages, WISE hopes to aspire girls to turn their interest in STEM into a lifelong passion.
