Students from Rice University and other schools met with U.S. Ambassador to Japan Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of President John F. Kennedy, at a reception for the recipients of Fulbright Scholarships who are studying in Japan. The reception was held at the ambassador’s residence in Tokyo. The students are in Japan as fellows of the Rice-based Nakatani RIES: Research and International Experiences for Students program administered by Rice engineering professor Junichiro Kono and staff members Sarah Phillips and Aki Shimada in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
