Israeli ambassador to the United Nations to speak at Rice’s Baker Institute April 5

HOUSTON – (March 31, 2016) – Danny Danon, Israel’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations, will speak on “Israel and the United Nations” at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy April 5.

Who: Danny Danon, Israel’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations.

Ambassador Edward Djerejian, the Baker Institute’s director, will give welcoming remarks.

What: A presentation titled “Israel and the United Nations.”

When: Tuesday, April 5, 6:30-8 p.m.

Where: Rice University, Baker Hall, Doré Commons, 6100 Main St.

Danon was appointed ambassador in October 2015 and previously held senior positions in Israel’s cabinet and the Knesset (parliament). Danon has served as Israel’s deputy minister of defense and minister of science, technology and space. He was first elected to the Knesset in 2009 and subsequently served as its deputy speaker, chair of the Immigration, Absorption and Diaspora Affairs Committee and chair of the Special Committee for the Rights of the Child.
