Rice United Way Campaign meets goal, close to becoming Chairman’s Division member

The 2015 Rice United Way Campaign has officially passed its fundraising goal and is 97 percent of the way to meeting or beating last year’s record total and $3,353 away from being a Chairman’s Division member.

As the campaign enters its eighth and final week, campuswide contributions total  $246,647, above the $225,000 goal and within reach of last year’s total, $253,137. Natural Sciences continues to lead the campus in contributions with $26,761, and Facilities Engineering and Planning leads with the most overall donors, 131.

The United Way’s top-level giving designation is the Chairman’s Division, and last year, for the first time, Rice achieved that distinction and became one of the most generous institutional donors in the Houston community.  To repeat as a Chairman’s Division member this year, Rice needs to raise a minimum of $250,000.

Employees can make a pledge payable by payroll deductions spread over all paychecks in calendar (and tax) year 2016 by logging in at esther.rice.edu and clicking the “United Way” link to authorize a direct payroll contribution, or use the pledge form on the Rice United Way website, www.rice.edu/unitedway. That same form may also be used to make a cash, check or credit card gift (for tax year 2015).
