Rice to honor veterans Nov. 11

This year’s ceremony will be emceed by Mallory Valle, staff assistant in mathematics, and will feature remarks by Rice University Police Sgt. Tom Hudak and Corban Bates, MBA student in the Jones Graduate School of Business. Chabrelle Williams, a graduate student in the Shepherd School of Music, will sing the national anthem.

The 2014 honoree will be William Cannady, professor of architecture. Cannady came to Rice in 1962 after serving eight years in the United States’ Marine Corps.

The ceremony will also recognize the undergraduate and graduate students and alumni of Rice who are committed to serving students and the Houston community through charitable veteran and military service organizations.

Employees and students who are veterans are invited to wear their uniforms. All members of the Rice community are welcome to attend.

If it’s raining, the ceremony will be moved to the Rice Chapel.
