Jones School to host ‘A Tour of Big Ideas in Economics and Why We Should Care’

CHARLES WHEELAN

Rice University’s Jones Graduate School of Business will host “A Tour of Big Ideas in Economics and Why We Should Care” Aug. 21 in McNair Hall’s Shell Auditorium. The event will feature remarks by author Charles Wheelan from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and a book signing from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The talk will lead an entertaining and engaging tour through several core concepts in economics. Wheelan will highlight both the power that economic insights provide to address the important issues faced today, as well as the difficulty — in practice — of deriving corporate and government policy from economic concepts.

Wheelan is the author of the international best-sellers “Naked Economics” and “Naked Statistics” and a former correspondent for The Economist. He teaches public policy and economics at Dartmouth College.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. For more information on the event or to RSVP, visit https://business.rice.edu/wheelan.
