Many young people have called the Rice campus home over the years.  However, not many families have called Rice home.

Jose Garcia and his family lived at Rice from 1945 until 1949.  Garcia was the right-hand man of Rice’s first groundskeeper, Tony Martino.  The family lived on the western edge of campus.

After connecting with Rice Centennial Historian Melissa Kean they made the trek to the campus to revisit the site of their old home.

About Brandon Martin

Greetings, I am a video producer at Rice University in the Office of Public Affairs. I became a Rice Owl in June 2011. Before that, I was at KPRC-TV in Houston as a special projects photojournalist for seven years, where I covered everything from hurricanes to sports. Southeast Texas has been my home my entire life. I am lucky to have a wonderful wife and two of the cutest girls I have ever seen. Go Owls!
