Khan made Time’s list of world’s 100 most influential people

EVENT: Rice University’s 99th commencement

DATE: May 12, 2012

TIME: 8:30-11:30 a.m.

SPEAKER: Salman Khan, founder of Khan Academy, a free online education platform that has produced more than 3,200 videos on a variety of subjects. Time magazine recently named Khan one of the “100 Most Influential People in the World.”

LOCATION: Outdoors on Rice’s Academic Quadrangle (rain location: Tudor Fieldhouse), 6100 Main St. A media room where photographers can get a robe required for access to the quadrangle will open at 7:30 a.m. at Lovett Hall, Room 103B.

PHOTOGRAPHY GUIDELINES: News media photographers must shoot from an area that is at least 73 feet from the stage so that they remain out of the range of university video cameras that are recording the entire ceremony; telephoto lenses are highly recommended, as are plug-in transmitters for wireless access to sound from a mult box positioned on the south side of the quadrangle. Photographers must check in at Room 103B in Lovett Hall, where they will be given a black robe to wear while taking pictures on the quadrangle. They must be escorted by a member of the News and Media Relations team to the area on the quad designated for photographers.

PARKING: News media may enter at Entrance 1 at 6100 Main St. and park along the right side of the road leading into campus. A press badge or similar credentials is required for admission through Entrance 1.
