Rice Environmental Club hosts electronics recycling drive March 17, 18

Obsolete Computer EquipmentDon’t just wear green St. Patrick’s Day weekend; go green. The Rice Environmental Club is hosting an e-waste recycling drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 17 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 18 in West Lot 5.

Most consumer electronics and home office equipment will be accepted, including computers, monitors, laptops, printers, TVs, stereo equipment and cellphones. The drive is not accepting such items as large household appliances, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, fluorescent bulbs, smoke detectors and radioactive materials. Hard-drive cleansing services will be offered by 5R Processors, which is teaming with Rice for the event.

The event is open to the public; only residential equipment will be accepted.
