Befitting of its name, the Gateway program acts as a gateway from student life to the real world by offering international ambassadorships, summer fellowships, undergraduate research funds and social-science internships.
Through the Gateway program’s International Ambassador program, students receive a stipend, and guidance in making contacts and conducting interviews, prepare reflection reports and make presentations upon their return. Using Rice alumni contacts, the students will interview accomplished individuals in the countries they visit. To practice, the students interviewed Social Sciences faculty members this semester and transcribed those interviews, which are featured at http://socialsciencesgateway.rice.edu/Faculty.aspx.
