Hartsook Professor in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and professor in bioengineering, won the Best Fundamental Paper Award at the South Texas Section of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. The award for Best Applied Paper was received by Matteo Pasquali, professor in chemical and biomolecular engineering and in chemistry, and Natnael Behabtu, a graduate student in chemical engineering. This is the second year in a row that Rice’s Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department has won both best paper awards.

Drew Bryant, a graduate student in computer science, and Samantha Summerson, a graduate student in electrical and computer engineering, have won graduate fellowships from oilfield services company Schlumberger Limited. The fellowships were awarded by the Ken Kennedy Institute for Information Technology.
