Farmers Market expands to two days a week in October

The Houston Farmers Market that is open on the Rice campus Tuesday afternoons will be expanding this fall to include Saturday hours.

Beginning Oct. 10, the market will be open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. It will continue to meet Tuesdays from 3:30 to 7 p.m.

Vendors at the market sell such items as varieties of squash, cucumbers, onions, potatoes, tomatoes and mushrooms; local honey; handmade cheese; hormone-free chicken, duck and beef; artisan-baked breads; and handmade soaps and body lotions.

The Tuesday farmers market is in the parking lot by Entrance 9 on University Boulevard. The Saturday farmers market will be at the corner of Greenbriar Street and University Boulevard. Parking is free.
