Ruth López Turley, director of the Houston Education Research Consortium, associate director of the Kinder Institute for Urban Research and a Rice sociology professor, shared how research connected to school leaders and decision-makers can help close student-achievement gaps during “Education Now Houston,” a Sept. 25 NBC News Learn panel discussion at the University of Houston-Downtown. Barrett Doke and Anthony Nguyen, students in Rice’s Glasscock School of Continuing Studies’ Master of Arts in Teaching program, were featured in video clips focused on how classrooms use data and technology to enhance student learning.
