Fall is for learning, and Rice’s Glasscock School can hook you up

The Glasscock School of Continuing Studies‘ fall course catalog will hit mailboxes this month, and the school has a class for anyone interested in lifelong learning fueled by their interests.

Geared toward the Houston community and beyond, the school’s curriculum facilitates exploration of the arts, humanities, sciences, social sciences, creative writing, photography, studio art, mind-body practices and many other subjects in short, noncredit courses. For more information and to register, go to https://glasscock.rice.edu/community.

The Glasscock School will host a free fall preview from 3 to 7 p.m. Sept. 4 in its home, the Anderson-Clarke Center, with mini lectures and workshop overviews by Rice faculty and community instructors. To learn more, visit https://glasscock.rice.edu/fall-preview.

The fall catalog’s cover image is “Wall Drawing #1115: Circle within a square, each with broken bands of color” (2004) by the late Sol LeWitt, which will be installed this fall in the Dean’s Commons of the Anderson-Clarke Center. A gift of Rice alumnus H. Russell Pitman ’58, “Wall Drawing #1115” underscores the intellectual rigor and nature of collaboration that takes place at Rice.
