Faces of immigration on display in Provost’s Art Gallery

Photos of young immigrants living in the United States, taken by students enrolled in Rice’s “Children of Immigrants” course, are on display in the Provost’s Art Gallery on the fourth floor of Allen Center.

The upper-level psychology course (PSYC 480) addressed immigration from a developmental perspective. The students learned about systems that could benefit or hinder immigrant experiences.

Throughout the semester, students photographed children of immigrants — sometimes themselves — in varying contexts to reflect knowledge gained in the course. Each of the 18 students selected one photo for the gallery.
