Djerejian discusses US policy in the Middle East

A capacity audience gathered in Baker Hall May 2 as Baker Institute for Public Policy Director Edward Djerejian, a former U.S. ambassador to Syria and to Israel, discussed the complex landscape of the modern Middle East and United States policy in the region. Djerejian — who had recently returned from a trip to the Middle East that included a meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri in Beirut — also examined regional issues as well as the current state of the U.S.-Israeli relationship following Israel’s recent elections and the prospects for Israeli-Palestinian negotiations. The event was co-hosted by the American Jewish Committee Houston.
