Dr. Wendy Schell, a physical therapist at Houston Methodist Hospital and a lecturer in the Rice Department of Kinesiology, published a paper this month that correlates falls by patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis with objective measures of balance, strength and spasticity. The paper appears in the journal NeuroRehabilitation. Rice alumna Victoria Mar ’15, a doctor of physical therapy student at Texas Woman’s University, and alumna Carolyn Da Silva ’81, a professor of physical therapy at Texas Woman’s, are co-authors of the paper.
