Jelinkova receives award from tech nonprofit Internet2

Klara Jelinkova, Rice’s vice president for international operations and information technology and chief information officer, received the President’s Leadership Award from advanced technology nonprofit Internet2 on March 6 at its annual global summit in Washington, D.C.

Jelinkova was recognized for exceptional leadership and service and enabling services and achievements beyond the scope of individual institutions that benefit the research and education communities, according to the organization.

Jelinkova serves as an Internet2 board member and as chair of its Trust and Identity Program Advisory Group. She served on Internet2’s InCommon Federation steering committee from 2013-18, leading as chair from 2014-16 and as vice chair in 2013. She also served as chair of the Trust and Identity in Education and Research Community Investor Council from 2015-18.

“Klara’s time, energy and leadership have helped make the Internet2 community’s trust and identity capabilities what they are today,” said Howard Pfeffer, president and CEO of Internet2.

Founded in 1996, Internet2 delivers technology solutions that leverage, integrate and amplify the strengths of its members, which include universities, government agencies and regional and state education networks that support educational, research and community service missions, according to its website. Internet2’s core infrastructure includes the nation’s largest and fastest research and education network to deliver advanced, customized services.
