Watch party for Baker Institute gala with President Obama set

Rice’s Baker Institute for Public Policy will host a fundraising gala Nov. 27 with former President Barack Obama to celebrate the institute’s 25th anniversary. Obama’s visit means the campus will have had the privilege of hosting every living former U.S. president since the inception of the Baker Institute in 1993.

The Baker Institute and the Office of the President have invited the campus community to a watch party the night of the gala beginning at 7 p.m. in the Rice Memorial Center’s Grand Hall. A dessert reception will take place before remarks begin at approximately 7:45 p.m.

Space is limited for the watch party and is restricted to members of the Rice community; Rice ID cards will be checked upon entrance. Obama’s remarks will also be broadcast on the Baker Institute’s website, www.bakerinstitute.org.
