Dances with Owls

Students in full tuxedos and glittering gowns merengued and mamboed their way across the floor inside the Rice Memorial Center’s Grand Hall during the two-day Dances with Owls competition Nov. 2 and 3. The annual event hosted by Rice Ballroom offers a friendly competitive environment that primarily draws amateur, college-aged ballroom dancers from universities across Texas, with social dances and workshops featured in addition to competitions in all four styles of traditional ballroom: international standard, American smooth, international Latin and American rhythm.
