BP to present ‘Energy Outlook 2018’ at Rice’s Baker Institute March 2

HOUSTON – (Feb. 19, 2018) – BP will present its “Energy Outlook 2018” at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy March 2.

Hosted by the Baker Institute’s Center for Energy Studies, the event is free and open to the public but registration is required.

Who: Spencer Dale, group chief economist at BP. Kenneth Medlock, the James A. Baker III and Susan Baker Fellow in Energy and Resource Economics at the institute and senior director of the Center for Energy Studies, will introduce Dale.

What: “BP Energy Outlook 2018” presentation.

When: Friday, March 2, noon-1 p.m. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. Dale will be available for media interviews following his presentation.

Where: Rice University, James A. Baker III Hall, Doré Commons, 6100 Main St.

Presented by Dale, the BP Energy Outlook will outline a potential path for energy demand based on assumptions about future changes in policy, technology and the economy. Dale will discuss the company’s views of future global energy markets through 2040 and explore a range of scenarios.

At BP, Dale advises the board and executive team on economic drivers and trends in global energy and manages the company’s global economics team, providing economic input into the firm’s commercial decisions. Dale joined BP as group chief economist in October 2014. Previously, he was executive director for financial stability at the Bank of England and a member of the Financial Policy Committee. Between 2008 and 2014, Dale was chief economist of the Bank of England and a member of the Monetary Policy Committee. He joined the Bank of England in 1989 and served in numerous other roles, including private secretary to Mervyn King and head of economic forecasting. He served as a senior adviser to the U.S. Federal Reserve Board of Governors between 2006 and 2008.
