Career Crawls offer students valuable opportunities to learn about employers, industries and careers through on-site visits that provide a glimpse of daily life in a career field. During the Sustainability Career Crawl, Rice students will visit four local companies with environmentally responsible career paths: Dream Harvest, Waste Management, EDP Renewables and the Green Building Resource Center.

“In one-on-one career counseling appointments and in discussions with past leaders of the Environmental Club, the CCD has heard that students have a desire to explore sustainability-focused careers,” said Ann McAdam Griffin, the CCD’s assistant director of employer relations and alumni engagement. “We’ve often heard something like, ‘I’m interested in sustainability, but I don’t know what that means, exactly.’”

“Sustainability-focused careers occupy a wide spectrum and can mean different things to each of us — including but certainly not limited to renewable energy, green building, agricultural management, environmental science, policies, remediation and management — and we thought getting out and seeing what these career paths could look like in person would be beneficial.”

There is no cost to participate in the Sustainability Career Crawl, which is open to all Rice undergraduates and includes both lunch and transportation to all four sites Feb. 8. For more information on this and other upcoming Career Crawls, visit rice.joinhandshake.com.
