Rice United Way Campaign reaches 65 percent of goal

As Week 2 of the Rice United Way Campaign draws to an end, pledges and contributions are at $162,811 — almost 2/3 of the way to Rice’s $250,000 goal.

The Investments and Public Affairs divisions both have 100 percent participation. Investments’ contributions total $14,741 and Public Affairs’ total $5,124. Public Affairs leads the campus with the most overall donors — 34. The School of Humanities leads the campus in total dollars contributed, $17,955.

Nearly $5,000 in matching-gift funds remain from the offer by Rice Board of Trustees Chairman Bobby Tudor ’82 and his wife, Phoebe, to match dollar-for-dollar any new donors or those who increase their campaign pledges over last year’s levels. To date, Rice employees have claimed $20,515 of the matching funds.

Pledges may be made by automatic payroll deduction, spread over all of 2017’s paychecks, via Esther. To give by check or credit card, or to designate any pledge — including a payroll pledge — to the benefit of a specific United Way agency, geographic area or community program or priority, campus donors may use the pledge form available on the Rice United Way Campaign website, unitedway.rice.edu.
