Rice welcomes new Houston mayor to campus

Rice President David Leebron, University Representative Y. Ping Sun and other members of the Rice community welcomed Houston’s new mayor, Sylvester Turner, at a reception Feb. 22 at the Wiess President’s House. Among those in attendance were Harris County Judge Ed Emmett ’71, state Rep. Sarah Davis, Mayor Pro-Tem and city Councilmember Ellen Cohen, Councilmember Jack Christie, Rice alumni and Councilmembers David Robinson ’93 and Karla Cisneros ’83, as well as several city senior staff members.
