Share with Houston’s neediest through Rice United Way Campaign

Thanksgiving is the perfect time to share good fortune with those in the Greater Houston community who need the kind of help that the United Way provides by making a pledge to the Rice United Way Campaign.

The annual United Way Campaign is one of the most important ways Rice engages with the Greater Houston community. Rice supports the United Way of Greater Houston because it invests in services that achieve impact and provide a safety net for people in need, transforming lives and creating systemic change in such key areas as education, family financial stability and quality of life.

In just eight weeks, the campaign officially passed it’s fundraising goal of $225,000 and is now aiming for the United Way’s top-level giving designation is the “Chairman’s Division.” Last year, for the first time, Rice achieved that distinction, becoming one of the most generous institutional donors in the Houston community.  To repeat as a Chairman’s Division member this year, Rice needs to raise a minimum of $250,000.

Employees can make a pledge payable by payroll deductions spread over all paychecks in calendar (and tax) year 2016 by logging in at esther.rice.edu and clicking the “United Way” link to authorize a direct payroll contribution, or use the pledge form on the Rice United Way website, www.rice.edu/unitedway. That same form may also be used to make a cash, check or credit card gift (for tax year 2015).
