In an exclusive ranking for Business Insider, Niche.com (formerly College Prowler) combined survey results for best on-campus dining facilities and off-campus dining options. More than 64,000 students from over 1,175 colleges were polled. Rice received an “A-plus” in both categories, indicating a variety of healthy, quality food options that accommodate various dietary preferences.

“Students at Rice find that the dining experience is truly world-class,” wrote a student contributor to Niche. “Students also rave about the dining staff — who aren’t just cooks, but real chefs that work at Rice because they love interacting with the students (think Southern hospitality at its finest).”

One reviewer praised the five-star chefs responsible for the “fantastic” food.

“The cooks are very accommodating and there are tons of options for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, etc.,” the student wrote. “They are also open to suggestions and take feedback very seriously.”
