Two Houston traditions aligned Feb. 23 as Owls celebrated Rice University’s tradition of wearing blue on Fridays as well as dressing in western wear for Go Texan Day.
Crowds gathered at the Central Quad to show off their fancy duds and nosh on snacks. The High Order of Owl Tailgating Society sold $2 breakfast tacos to benefit the HOOTS scholarship fund, and Staff Council sponsored a photo opportunity with Sammy the Owl. Free Rice-emblazoned bandanas were available to the first 100 guests.
The morning hooplah celebrated the official beginning of the 2024 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
